The electricity sale is back – the lowest electricity price in two months

On Wednesday, the price of electricity will plummet throughout the country. In southern Sweden, it is the lowest level since August 6. And the wind forecasts indicate that there could be an electricity sale all week.

Strong windy weather in southern Sweden and Denmark in particular is on the way. That usually means a drop in electricity prices, and it does now as well. Continued lower gas prices on the continent may also contribute somewhat.

On Wednesday, electricity will cost 32 öre per kilowatt hour in all four Swedish electricity price areas, according to pricing on the electricity price exchange Nord Pool.

In the north it is nothing particularly sensational, but in electricity area 4, southern Götaland, it is unusually low these days. The last time the price was lower was August 6, when electricity cost 5.5 öre per kWh.

Even for the rest of the week, the weather forecasts point to continued windy weather. That should mean low electricity prices even for several days ahead. When the Swedish wind turbines are running at full capacity, together with above all the Danish and German ones, it has a significant effect on electricity production. Only in Sweden does wind power provide electricity well on par with nuclear power when the wind is at full blast, now with Ringhals 4 out of production even more than nuclear power.

On top of the stock market prices, the electricity company’s mark-up, electricity tax, VAT and electricity grid fee are added.

32 öre per kilowatt hour on the electricity exchange corresponds to approximately SEK 1:46/kWh when the electricity reaches the household bill.
