Software problems close the tunnel
The Marieholm tunnel in Gothenburg is closed due to problems with the tunnel’s software system.
Less than a year ago, the Marieholm Tunnel was inaugurated, which runs under the river in Gothenburg. The tunnel is part of the large infrastructure investment Västsvenska paketet and relieves the Tingstad tunnel where previously approximately 120,000 vehicles passed per day.
Just today, however, the vehicles again need to use the Tingstad tunnel for their passage under the river, as the software systems in the Marieholm tunnel already experienced disturbances on Tuesday evening. This is what Mikael Salo, road traffic manager at the Swedish Transport Administration, tells GP.
“Several different systems that get tangled”
– We close tonight to avoid the worst rush hour traffic tomorrow (read: today, editor’s note). We have several different systems that are confusing for us, said Mikael Salo to GP last night.
These include problems with the software that handles the tunnel’s signage. Ny Teknik is looking for the Swedish Transport Administration to get more details about which parts of the software system are tangled.
The forecast is that the tunnel will reopen later today.
