Vattenfall gets to build the huge Norfolk Boreas wind farm
Vattenfall has been awarded a contract to build a large wind farm, Norfolk Boreas, in the United Kingdom.
The park receives support from the British government for 15 years.
– The very gratifying award of CfD support is crucial for the first stage of Vattenfall’s Norfolk Zone, one of the largest offshore wind power areas in the world, to be completed, says Helene Biström, head of business area wind at Vattenfall, in a press release.
Norfolk Boreas is the first part of Vattenfall’s wind power area Norfolk Zone, which is planned to become one of the world’s largest wind power areas.
Norfolk Boreas is the first phase of what is known as the “Norfolk Zone”. It will have an installed capacity of 1.4 GW, the wind farm will be able to produce electricity corresponding to the need of approximately 1.5 million British households.
The maximum rotor height for the turbines is up to 350 meters. It is about two and a half times the height of the London Eye Ferris wheel.
