Microsoft gives discount to Office pirates

Can a good deal get the file parts to open your wallet? Users with a pirated version of Office receive a discount from Microsoft.

Microsoft is testing a new, slightly different trick to convert pirates into paying customers. Some users who run a pirated version of Office have started getting discount offers, writes Ghacks.

The offer appears in a red list below the toolbar in the programs, declaring that the user can get up to 50 percent off Microsoft 365.

Whoever clicks on the offer comes to one landing page at Microsoft where the company declares that “pirated software exposes your PC to security threats”. The company warns of the risk of being affected by malware and that the pirated version will not receive automatic updates.

On the same page, you can sign up for an annual subscription to Microsoft 365 for half the price. We’ll see if that’s enough to get the pirates to align themselves with the SaaS.
